Our Jewish Messiah.

This ministry provides many opportunities to speak with individuals of diverse backgrounds and beliefs. I’m very thankful that I get to do this! It’s a joy sharing Jesus with so many people. It is especially a joy to share my Jewish Savior with Jewish students. The University of Florida is teeming with Jewish students. A Jewish student that I spoke with recently told me that he had come to UF from Missouri. When I asked him why, he told me that it was between here and the University of Maryland, for both have a strong Jewish presence. (Which I thought was cool because I am from Maryland!) I’ve spoken with many Jewish students here but it did not occur to me that this university had a unusually high presence of Jewish students. I supposed that other large universities were the same. But I’m glad, for I have been able to share Jesus with many of them.

This same Jewish student listened very carefully to what I had to say. He was not the typical Jewish person I encountered, for most Jews in America are secular; many of them do not go to religious services, believe in God, or have any knowledge of the Bible (see this study). But this young man was different. Not only does he believe the Bible (the Old Testament), but he is eagerly awaiting the Messiah. I made my case for Jesus by sharing how He fulfilled the Old Testament prophecies found in places like Daniel 9 and Isaiah 53. I also showed how Jesus was found to be like Joseph, Moses, and the Prophets. I shared how His sacrifice was foretold in the story of Abraham almost sacrificing Isaac. I told him how the history of his people were that they were stubborn and rebellious, rejecting even Moses and the Prophets. And I warned him not to trust in Rabbis but only the scripture, which pointed to Jesus.

I exchanged phone numbers with this young man and intend to speak with him further. From my perspective, it seemed the Lord was shining a light into his soul. Please pray for him and for all the students I am able to share Christ with.

Summer Stuff

This summer, I traveled to Ohio with our church youth to attend the Fine Arts Festival and National Youth Convention. This was an exciting and meaningful trip for many of our church youth. Fine Arts is a place where the youth can showcase their gifts and talents competitively with other students around the nation. And the National Convention is a giant youth rally were students are challenged to deepen their faith in Christ. Two of our youth felt a call to ministry during this time!

Much of summer was devoted to family. As you probably know, we welcomed our seventh child into the world this June! Walter Wickham Chaffee was born on June 29, 2024 at 10:30am, weighing 7lbs. He is a beautiful and healthy baby boy; we are so blessed to have him. Having seven children is a challenge but also a blessing I wouldn’t trade for anything. The other kids adore Walter and it is wonderful to have all the helping hands that we do. God is good!

Praying for us!

How can you pray for us? Pray for greater fruitfulness in ministry. More than anything, I want to see many souls saved and lives changed. We’ve sowed many seeds and are now looking for a greater harvest. Pray that the Lord gives us excellent ideas for outreach at our church. Pray that the Lord will meet all of our financial needs. Thank you for all your support! May the Lord bless you!
