Thus saith the Lord: “Buy a gun.”

And He said to them, “When I sent you without money bag, knapsack, and sandals, did you lack anything?” So they said, “Nothing.”  Then He said to them, “But now, he who has a money bag, let him take it, and likewise a knapsack; and he who has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one.” Luke 22:35-36

Do you own a gun? I do. Do I think you should own a gun? If you are a responsible adult, then yes.

Jesus said that he was going away for a time and that we should live a life that is prepared for a long, dangerous journey.  Part of that preparedness to to have a practical weapon to protect you and your family.

I am far from being a gun enthusiast, but I do have a gun. I bought a used one from the pawn shop for $150.  I’ve tested it out and cleaned it and it works fine.   When I have little children, I will keep it in spot that they can’t reach.  My gun is equipped with a trigger that is very hard to pull, so a child could not pull it (my wife can hardly pull it).

The main reason I keep a gun is for protection for my family. If an intruder enters my house and I feel threatened for my life or my family’s life, I’m  going to shoot them.  They don’t belong in my house. “What!?? You’re a christian and you would kill somebody?”  Yes, I would if I had to, and I think you should to.  Nobody has any business being in your house in the middle of the night. Now this doesn’t mean that if you hear something move in the house that you unload in that general direction. But it does mean that if the worst comes you can defend yourself.

What does the bible say about this?

“If the thief is found breaking in, and he is struck so that he dies, there shall be no guilt for his bloodshed.” Ex 22:2

In this passage the bible is talking about a thief and is particularly talking about night time.  This means when it is dark, and you are scared because someone has broken into your house and you don’t know if they are there to steal, rape, or kill, you have a right to defend yourself.

The other reason I own a gun is because it is a symbol of living in a free country.  When the government allows you to own a weapon it shows me that this is a government that is not afraid of the people because it is a government BY the people.

Cuba is a country that has a very low gun crime rate. That’s because it is illegal to possess a gun.  Cuba is also a country were the people live in bondage because of a tyrannical government.  The government is afraid so they keep guns out of the hands of the people so they can always be in control.  This is the reason that ‘the right to bear arms’ is in our constitution. If the people of Cuba had weapons, maybe they would fight for their freedom.

So, buy a gun. The Lord says so.

p.s. make sure you do it legally 🙂
