Mark 9:23
“If you can believe, all things are possible to him that believes.”

Oh, Glory to God! What an awesome scripture! If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.

Look at this scripture. It shows us what faith is so well. It also shows us God’s heart. Look at this poor man. His son has been tormented for so long and he is desperate for help. He hears about Jesus and his disciples. The disciples have been casting out devils in Jesus’ name for a little while now and they have experience doing it, but when this man comes, its not working like it had worked before. They couldn’t cast the demon out. Why not? Well, what was Jesus’ response to the disciples not being able to cast it out? “Oh faithless generation…”

Ain’t that the truth. We are a faithless generation.

What was God’s will in this situation? It was God’s will for the boy to be well. We can see that by looking at the end result. And Jesus expected his disciples to be able to do it. What they should have done was to start praying and fasting instead of wondering why it wasn’t working. They shouldn’t have taken ‘no’ for an answer. God wasn’t holding back, their faithlessness was holding them back.

Thank God that Jesus was there. If Jesus wasn’t there then the boy would still have been sick.

God wants so much for His people, but his people just won’t believe. God help us.
