“ Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.”
Hebrews 4:11
I like to look at this scripture as the picture of a person in the middle of a busy mob of people who are loud. Its a place where rest is impossible. You could try to lay down and rest but it just wouldn’t work. The mob is thick and its going to take some work to get out. The rest is beyond the mob. You need to work your way through that mob of people to get to a place where you can really rest.
It is very much like that spiritually. You can’t rest spiritually until you break free from the mob of worry and doubt. You have to break free from a fleshly thinking into a spiritual mindset. And once you do that you will enter into the rest of God. And oh what a wonderful place that is to be! You can be there as much as you want as often as you want. Really you should live out of that rest. But if you want to do that you will have to learn how to enter into that rest. You will have to learn how to labour in order to enter that rest. If you don’t do that laboring, you won’t enter into that rest.
How do you labour to enter into that rest? Well, I think the main thing you need to to is to work your way out of the flesh and into the spirit. And that is mostly a mindset thing. It may sound easy to change your mindset, but it can be harder then you think. Especially if you are used to a certain mindset. Its hard to change what’s in there. For example, have you ever had some one tell you, “you just need to believe in yourself.” Well, its not as easy as just switching a switch and believing in yourself. I wish it was. When you tell people that you actually give them less confidence. Its the same thing as saying, “Well just trust God.” Well, I’m trying to trust God. The mindset is sometimes hard to change. But its not as hard as you might think. Maybe I’m confusing you.
Here’s the answer. Changing that mindset naturally is next to impossible. But when you line yourself up with God, you begin to realize that you have the mind of Christ and His mindsets become your mindsets. And as long as you stay in the spirit you will understand that in walk in it. Its really yours at anytime. But for me, I have only been able to walk in it when I’m in the spirit, or walking spiritually minded. So you have to press into that that spiritual place. You do that by prayer, of course, and worship, and meditating on the Word of God. You do it until you can tell that you pushed past that fleshly boundary that is keep you back.
