It’s HAPPENING….
In my last newsletter, I shared with you our plan to go mobile by moving into an RV and traveling throughout the country. Well, we are now very close.
As you know, we have been hard at work to get our house on the market. We weren’t sure how much our house would sell for or how quickly it would sell. So, needless to say, we were AMAZED when we immediately received three offers for our house. And within three days of the house on the market, we are now under contract with an offer of more than our asking price!
This was truly an unexpected blessing.
We have a scheduled closing date of July 2. So the evening of July 2 will be our first night without a house, in a motorhome, off on our new journey.
Now that there is a contract on our house, we have moved our focus from fixing up to moving out. We have a lot of clothing and other random things that we have accumulated over the past 16 years, and sorting through it all has been a revealing thing. One revelation is just how blessed we, as Americans, really are. The other revelation is how we have almost smothered ourselves with said blessing. It was always in times of blessing that the Israelites strayed from God. We must be careful that we don’t take for granted the abundance that we have. The Lord gave it and the Lord can take it away. Simplifying our lives should be an aspiration for all of us, for the scripture commands us to live a quiet life, a life not filled with the clamor of worldly things. Living in the small space of an RV will force us to hold on to little, to make do with less, and to slow down in our everyday life. Small things like brushing our teeth, taking baths, and preparing dinner will likely be longer processes. But at the same time, we will have much less space to clean up, less laundry to pile up, and less room to junk up. The trade-offs will be interesting and we will be sure to keep you all updated as we go.
Our Next Step
Many have asked us where we plan on going first. Here’s the answer: Our first stop will be in Live Oak, FL where my wife’s parents reside. We will park the motorhome on their property as we retrofit it to make it work for our family. We have also promised our children that we would take them to see Noah’s Ark in Kentucky (the Ark Encounter). That will also happen sometime shortly after closing on our house.
After retrofitting the RV, we have a shadowy image of what we might do next. Be in prayer with us as we pray about where to go and for ministry opportunities. Street ministry is difficult at this time due to the virus and especially now due to riots. Pray that the Lord would give us wisdom and boldness in our future ministry endeavors.
It’s time to PRAY
As you know, the world is in a chaotic time. The scripture that rings truer to me than ever before is this one: “the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one,” – 1 John 5:19. Satan knows his time is short and is desperate to pull down as much of mankind as he can with him to the pits of hell. His hatred for God burns like a fire in his bosom and drives him day by day to steal, kill, and to destroy. We must resist him. We must let the fire of God’s love burn in our bosom as we fight against him with the weapons of righteousness in the right hand and left, wearing the full armor of God, armed with the sword of God in our mouths. And ‘praying ALWAYS with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.’ And please pray for me, that I might open my mouth boldly, to speak as I ought to speak, boldly proclaiming the gospel of God.
